Oracle WebLogic Server: Editions & Cost

Oracle WebLogic Server is a widely used Java Enterprise Edition application server for developing and deploying enterprise applications. Its robust capabilities for building enterprise-level apps make it a powerful tool, but understanding its licensing options can be challenging. Many corporations struggle to comprehend the various offerings and determine which one aligns with their organizational needs.

In this post, we delve deeper into the main editions of Oracle WebLogic Server and get a quick understanding of the included componens and pricing options available.

Editions

WebLogic Basic edition is included with other Oracle products such as Oracle Internet Application Server (IAS) and Oracle Forms and Reports. The WebLogic Standard edition is licensed per occupied CPU socket, with a minimum of 10 user licenses per processor.

The WebLogic Enterprise edition is licensed per core factor and includes advanced clustering support and the Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder.

The WebLogic Suite is also licensed per core factor and features additional components like Oracle Coherence Enterprise Edition, Oracle Forms, Reports, and Portal, Oracle Enterprise Manager Pack for Oracle Coherence, Oracle Verrazzano Enterprise Edition, and Oracle Java SE Suite.
